World of Warcraft Patch 1.11: Shadow of the Necropolis
World of Warcraft Patch 1.11: Shadow of the Necropolis has been released and so I’ll be discussing a few of the major changes here.
Probably the main physical change to the world is the advent of the Scourge invasion. Necropolises hang above both the Undercity in the Forsaken territory and Stormwind in the human territory. From these and many others around the world (Azshara, Blasted Lands, Burning Steppes, Eastern Plaguelands, Tanaris and Winterspring) the Scourge have been setting up camps to assault both Alliance and Horde territories. The Argent Dawn has made a worldwide response to this invasion and you will be able to help them out and be rewarded for your efforts, as always, at the argent dawn quartermasters, some new camps being setup in the Undercity and Stormwind respectively. Along with this comes the new, and I’m assuming very challenging, 40-man raid instance Naxxramas, the seat of the Lich King’s powerful servant Kel’Thuzad. Floating above the plaguelands the instance proves to offer lots of new items, recipes and so forth along with a new dungeon set of armour for each class (they can be seen here).
Both Shaman and Mage classes have had their talent trees totally reworked and both trees can be seen in their new forms here.
One annoying change has been to make the ‘Looking For Group’ channel global. This has turned it into the new Barrens Chat (annoying conversations area) not the mention to be flooded with group requests. I see the utility of this function but I don’t think Blizzard realised that people can’t control themselves on the internet.
Key rings are now available for all players which is great considering you need just about one for every mid to high level instance and so used to take up a lot of room in one’s bag.
Apart from these changes a lot of small fixes and revisions have been introduced.

Alskreek, out.
