Heroes of Might and Magic V

I picked up Heroes of Might and Magic V today so here are my first impressions.
The interface is pretty much the same as HoMaM3 3, except more simplified; they have gotten rid of a lot of excess toolbars and whatnot. This is mostly a good thing as tool tips are abound to tell you what you’re doing.
The graphics are very pretty, especially when one considers how crappy HoMaM IV was.
Something I was sad to see they had not included was that when you now move over resources, buildings and whatnot it does not give you a little blurb on what is happening. I really liked this feature, it was just a small bit of flavor text I know, but I still thought it was a nice touch.
They really didn’t need to make Rampart/Sorceress so Elf heavy, same goes for Dungeon (my favorite from no. 2 and 3); the lizard riding dark elves just reek of Warhammer and Forgotten Realms.
The addition of new hero abilities and the fact that they can now attack is another a cool feature.
The story is a little bland so far but it could improve further in, we shall see.
For more info go here to the official site.
Alskreek, out.
