The five most wanted games in 2010
The past year was filled with gaming greatness. Uncharted 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, Modern Warfare 2, FIFA 10 and Super Mario Bros Wii were the must plays of 2010.
But many highly anticipated titles due for release last year were delayed until 2010, meaning gamers must ready their thumbs, and wallets, for what will be gaming's greatest year since the turn of the millennium.
In the first eTalk of 2010, let's check out the most wanted games coming soon to consoles.
5. Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) has been delayed for more than a year, and is finally due to hit shelves in March. Polyphony's racing epic will feature more tracks, more cars, more polygons - more everything - than any other racing game made. With real damage and the promise of brilliant online play, GT5 will return to the top.
4. Mass Effect 2 (Xbox, PC) is shaping up as one of this year's best titles. The first instalment of the alien infested RPG took the world by storm and the sequel looks even better. Astounding graphics and addictive game play will see this one of the most bought games of the year. Available on Australia Day, 26 January.
3. Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox) has a full-scale development team working on this epic and early screens and trailers are promising. Despite the franchise looking a little tired in years gone by, SquareEnix have promised a return to brilliance this year. That means a full team of developers and engineers. FFXIII is being billed as the Avatar of games, so keep this one on your wish list when it is released in early March.
2. Heavy Rain (PS3) is going to be a different experience for gamers. The PS3 exclusive, due in the first quarter of this year, is a cinematic-based game with a sophisticated plot and a bending story line. You'll assume the role of multiple characters with different backgrounds and skills. Points for innovation here.
1. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) hasn't been tagged with a firm release date, but most are expecting this must-own title to materialise in the second half of the year. Wii owners have been crying out something great since Zelda and the original Galaxy game launched the console. Nintendo have promised the sequel will be bigger and better than the first, and that will be an incredible feat in itself.
