Bang! Howdy is an online, turn based game in its beta stages. Not surprisingly, its theme is that of a western with crazy steam engine technology thrown in for good measure.
The game is a bit like Final Fantasy Tactics in terms of some of the game play. You choose several characters to use in each match, a hero type unit called a big shot and a few normal units. The big shots consist of a cavalryman, old codger and tactician at present. For your lesser units there’s artillery, dirigible, gunslinger, steam gunman, shot gunner and sharpshooter. Interface consists of a simple point and click style with your units moving, after their movement bars are full, in a certain radius of squares. Attacks are also carried out in this fashion, simply clicking on your unit and the desired enemy, if within range, will be shot up by your unit. Power-ups spawn around the maps which give one-time benefits to the unit that grabs them such as healing, better firepower or speed. Cards are another item available for pickup on the playfield and are also available for purchase before having a game; these give you instant effects simply by using them at any given time such as the missile card that lets you hit a number of units in an area.
Play takes the form of 3 types of games: Gold Rush, Cattle Rustling and Claim Jumping. In Gold Rush and Claim Jumping game types the objective is to grab as many gold nuggets as possible, returning them to your mine, and preventing your opponent from doing the same in a certain time limit. The only difference between these two is that in Claim Jumping, anyone can also steal nuggets from your mine. Cattle Rustling is in the same vein in that you must brand as many cows as possible in a certain time limit whilst preventing your foes from doing the same.
These games give you money depending on how well you do and this lets your purchase more units, big shots, cards and clothing for your character, among other things.
All in all, a nice and simple online game, go here to download it and find out more.
